BEDFORD, Va. (WDBJ7) Charges have been upgraded against two men accused of having involvement in the death a teenager from Lynchburg who was murdered earlier this year.

A grand jury has indicted Kevin Josue Soto-Bonilla and Cristian Jose Sanchez-Gomez on counts of Capital Murder, Robbery, Abduction, and Participation in a Criminal Act in Association With a Criminal Street Gang.

Soto-Bonilla and Sanchez-Gomez were previously identified by Bedford County law enforcement as "known members of MS-13," a gang with ties to El Salvador that is known for carrying out violent murders.

Previous charges filed against Soto-Bonilla and Sanchez-Gomez in a lower court have been dropped in favor of the new, more serious charges. Capital Murder carries a maximum possible penalty of death for those convicted of the charge in Virginia.

Soto-Bonilla and Sanchez-Gomez are accused of having involvement in the death of Raymond Wood, a 17-year-old who was found dead on Roaring Run Road in Goode March 27.
