CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) Nearly two truck loads of relief supplies for victims of Hurricane Harvey were collected Friday in Christiansburg.

First responders accepted food, water, and household items outside Walmart. Police, Fire, and Rescue personnel helped pack it all into the large trucks.

People stood in line to donate to the cause.

"I think it is a great way for us to give back to our community and let the community members know that we're people, we're citizens in the community and if there's a way to help out, we want to help out," said Capt. Doug Weddle with the Christiansburg Police Department.

The Christiansburg Police Department spent this week collecting donations for the victims.

Starting next Tuesday, more donations can be made at the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.
