Christiansburg at Giles

GILES CO., Va. (WDBJ7) Christiansburg sat last week out so the Blue Demons played their opener at Giles on Friday night.

But early on, it was a turnover-fest. Christiansburg's Nicolas Cook rolled out. Threw toward the sidelines, but he was picked off by Ryan Beidleman making the nice play.

The Blue Demons quickly got it back. The handoff went to Austin Pennington, but he was stripped. Adam Semones picked it up and heads the other way on the nice return.

Giles put it on the turf again in the second quarter. Beidleman let it go and Thomas Darr scooped it up, but neither team capitalized.

Midway through the second, the Spartans broke through. Beidleman followed his blocker through the seam. He took it 44 yards to the endzone for the score. The fleet feet makes it 7-0 Giles.

Then on the Spartans' very next possession, Beidleman faked the keeper, pulled it back and found Connor Martin in the flat. He turned, shook off a couple of tacklers, and went in for the 54-yard touchdown, Giles took down Christiansburg, 48-15.
