Christiansburg students hit the pool to "Swim for the Next Girl"

CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) Dozens of kids and adults took to the pools in Christiansburg to swim for a cause Saturday.

The Christiansburg High School chapter of Help Save the Next Girl put it all together with help from the Christiansburg Aquatic Center.

The goal was to raise awareness for children who go missing every day, and* raise funds.

Those who took part were able to donate a flat rate to swim, or pay by lap.

For many of the students, getting involved is personal.

"I know that around the school we've had some girls go missing and some were found. And just around the community you hear stories, and it's really upsetting," said Christiansburg student, Savannah Widrig.

Organizers say the Christiansburg High School chapter of Help Save the Next Girl continues to grow.
