Christmas Trees for a Cause up at Institute for Advanced Learning and Research

DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) The Institute for Advanced Learning and Research in Danville is getting into the holiday spirit!

The main lobby is filled with Christmas trees!

Non-profits and businesses design a tree and people can vote for their favorite with a monetary donation.

The designers of the tree get to keep their donations once voting is complete and the winner gets a bonus prize.

$70,000 has been raised for the non-profits in the last eight years the Institute has done this!

"100% of the money raised goes goes back into the organization that the tree is representing. We feel that that is money in this community that would not be donated if it wasn't for this project," the Institutes's Sales and Marketing Director, Ellen Bass.

The trees will be up through December 21.
