ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) In Roanoke, opening night is here, as Cirque du Soleil begins Wednesday at the Berglund Center.
The show, called Ovo, is centered around the theme of insects, chronicling a day in the life.
Performers from 17 different countries will be on stage. One of them stopped by our studios yesterday morning showing off his diablo skills. He is self-taught, and eventually had his sights set on performing with the group.
Wei Liang Lin, a performer with Cirque du Soleil, said, “I wanted to become part of them so I tried to work hard and become them.”
Marjon Van Grunsven, Cirque du Soleil’s artistic director said, “They can calculate timing, they can calculate height, they can calculate speed without actually thinking that they're doing it, they're doing it.”
The show runs Wednesday through Sunday.
