(WDBJ7) Parents often take care of the financial side and the students may be unaware of their obligations once they graduate. Even though colleges are required to do entrance loan counseling, but the students don't always "hear" the advice.
When it comes to the cost of a college education, state schools have lower tuition. But higher priced private schools compensate by offering more free scholarships.
"Families are often surprised because they find it more affordable oftentimes than they thought it was going to be when they came into looking at the college."
