Community holds vigil for Lisa Henderson

APPOMATTOX, Va. (WDBJ7) -- Family and friends gather at Appomattox County High School to share their love for 22- year old Lisa Henderson. Henderson was murdered as she made her way from Rustburg to Lynchburg after visiting her boyfriend. Her family is still in shock. "It was so hard," said Mary Henderson.

There were more than hundred people from the area to extend prayers and comfort to the family. People wore pink and purple ribbons, Henderson's favorite colors and other hold posters reading 'we love you'.

Family members loved her smile, compassion for others, love for fishing. Her family says Henderson's is a life selfishly taken. It was an emotional ceremony for Sandra Henderson, Lisa's mother. Several mothers stepped forward to pray as she grieved.

As the family copes with their loss, they say all they want now is closure. "I really don't know too much about who done it, but we want justice because she wouldn't hurt nobody," said Henderson. "I don't understand. Who could just shoot somebody six times."

The Campbell County Sheriff's Office will search for her killer; however, the Henderson family now has an entire community to help keep Lisa's memory alive.
