LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) People who use the Lynchburg Main Street Bridge got to learn more about how upcoming work will impact them at a public meeting Monday night.
The bridge will be taken down starting the second week in November, with the 13th as a tentative date.
There will be four detours that people can use to get downtown- via Grace Street, Kemper Street, the Florida connection and 210 Madison Heights.
GLTC will also be rerouting several stops.The work is expected to take one year.
"The bridge is at its point to where it needs to be replaced. It was commissioned in 1954. The life of the bridge has kind of met its duration..." said Edd Wood, Construction Coordinator for the City of Lynchburg.
The project will be completed by English Construction for a total cost of about 6.7 million dollars.
There will be another public meeting to learn more about the work this Wednesday at 6 p.m.
