DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) No buildings were damaged, but clouds of smoke could be seen nearby when fire broke out at a Danville scrap yard Wednesday.

WDBJ7 viewers contacted our newsroom Wednesday afternoon after seeing thick black smoke in the area of Routes 58 and 29.

According to the Danville Fire Department, flames spread across a scrap metal pit at AMA Recycling on Halifax Road around 1 PM. Foam was sprayed on the scrap metal to prevent the fire from spreading.

No one was injured.
