BEDFORD Co., Va. (WDBJ7) - The Bedford Fire Department responded to 1617 Longwood Avenue at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning for a reported commercial structure fire.
When crews arrived they found light smoke showing form a single-story commercial building with all employees evacuated and accounted for.
Firefighters quickly located the fires location where sprinklers had activated and controlled the fire from spreading further.
Units operated on the scene for over an hour to ventilate the smoke out of the building and salvage as much as possible.
An employee sustained minor chemical burns but refused transport.
The damages were mostly smoke and water related, and are estimated at $20,000.
The Bedford County Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the fire at this time.
