UPDATE: Firefighter, 3 children taken to hospital after Roanoke house fire

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) -- UPDATE
The Roanoke Fire-EMS Department posted an update to its Facebook page Wednesday morning. The post lists the cause of the fire as "overloaded electrical equipment." It's estimated that the fire caused around $40,000 in damage.

A family of five, including 2 adults and 3 children, has been displaced as a result of a Tuesday night house fire.

One firefighter has been taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Roanoke Fire-EMS reports the 3 children were taken to the hospital for observation. They are expected to be okay.

The American Red Cross is helping the family.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

Crews are at the scene of a residential fire in southeast Roanoke.

Dispatchers confirm the call came in around 9:47 p.m. for a fire in the 1500 block of 8th Street.
