UPDATE: 10 people rescued from the James River near Lynchburg

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) UPDATE:

A total of 10 people were rescued from James River Sunday. They were not wearing life jackets.

Police say all 10 people are safe and that there were no injuries.

Rescue personnel from the city of Lynchburg, along with Campbell, Bedford, and Amherst counties assisted in the rescue.

Crews are are responding to the James River for a water rescue Sunday afternoon, according to Lynchburg dispatch.

Crews are at the Percival's Island area.
