ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) Construction on the highly anticipated Deschutes Brewery in Roanoke is still three years away, but the excitement is building as the beer becomes available this summer.

Blue Ridge Beverage Company

Blue Ridge Beverage Company of Salem will distribute the beer. The distributor is making a 5-day trip across the country to deliver the first cases of beer by hand. Those cases are signed by the workers in Oregon.

We chatted with the road-trippers in Idaho today and they say this kind of launch deserves special treatment.

"If they didn't open a new brewery we probably wouldn't have the beer just based on their capacity out in Oregon and being able to supply the U.S.," Blue Ridge Beverage Company Vice President of Craft Beer Dave Brewster said. "So it's a really big deal for us, not only is it fantastic beer but the Deschutes brewery, they're really great business partners and we're looking forward to it."

Deschuetes Beer will be available for purchase here in Southwest Virginia beginning August 1st.
