Crowds turn out for Greenbrier Classic

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS,W.Va. (WDBJ) Last year’s cancellation doesn’t seem to have affected crowd size at the Greenbrier Classic.

The Greenbrier says that close to 30,000 people registered for the free grounds passes and over 800 volunteered to help out. This was the first year for the passes, instead of concert tickets with tournament access attached.

“Everything seems to be going really well," says Cam Huffman, the Greenbrier's Director of Sports Information. "You know it’s the first year we’ve done the free grounds badges, so there was some logistics in making that happen. But I think it’s been going really smooth so far, and everybody’s really excited to have the tournament play underway.”

They say it’s hard to tell how many came from day to day, but the crowds tend to peak on the weekend.
