Danville Police Department does "No Shave November" for a good cause

DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) This month, you may notice some Danville Police Officers with a little more facial hair than usual.

The Police Department will be allowing officers to take part in "No Shave November" sponsored by the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 36.

It's customary that officers are only allowed to have a mustache.

With the donation of $10 dollars to the "Cops and Kids" program, officers of the Danville Police Department will be allowed to grow a beard too.

"There's nothing really like identifying a child in need, or a family in need, and actually taking them Christmas shopping," says Lt. Michael Wallace.

On December 1st those officers will have to shave the beards off and go back to department grooming rules.
