DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) The new portion of the Riverwalk Trail in Danville is officially open.
City leaders cut the ribbon Thursday evening to dedicate the new connection across the Martin Luther King Bridge.
It will help runners, walkers and bikers get from one side of the Dan River to the other and provide easy access the YMCA.
800 feet of rail was put into place to keep folks safe from traffic while traveling across the bridge.
This makes more than 10 miles of connecting trail throughout the city.
Leaders say the trail is used by more than 300,000 people each year.
