Danville leaders hoping to start up daily trolley service

DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) Danville leaders are trying to get a trolley service up and running.

City Councilman James Buckner is heading up the committee looking into the idea. He wants to offer trolley rides, just like a bus, for folks in the evening hours.

The trolley would run from Ballou Park, past Averett University, into the River District, and up North Main Street.

"Also, it will give Averett students an easier way to move about town. It's just an convenience thing and basically just another feather in the hat for amenities that we offer here in the city of Danville," City Councilman James Buckner said.

Buckner says they will send out a survey downtown businesses and home owners to get input.
