Man arrested in connection to December 2015 murder in Danville

DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) A Danville man was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree murder for a 2015 shooting.

Samuel Moore, 51, is being held in the Danville City Jail without bond.

Moore is accused of killing 26-year-old Terquise Smith on December 11, 2015. A 50-year-old man and 29-year-old woman were also shot and survived the shooting.

Smith is charged with first-degree murder, using a firearm in commission of a felony, two counts of discharging a firearm in an occupied dwelling, possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a firearm after being convicted of a felony, and breaking and entering while having a dangerous weapon.

A Danville man has been arrested for the 12-11-15 Homicide of 26 year old Terquise Lamont Smith.

This morning at approximately 3:03 am the Danville Police Department responded to the 600 block of Cardinal Place in reference to a shooting. Once on the scene officers located 3 individuals who were victims of gunshot wounds.

Victim #1, 26 year old male Danville resident Terquise Lamont Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.

Victim #2 a 50 year old male Danville resident was transported to Danville Regional Medical Center for treatment and was later taken by life flight to Carilion in Roanoke for further treatment of injuries consistent with a gunshot wound.

Victim #3, a 29 year old female Danville resident was transported to Danville Regional Medical Center and is currently being treated for injuries consistent with a gunshot wound.

On 06-27-16 Samuel Peter Moore 51 of Danville was indicted by a Danville Grand Jury on the following charges:

First Degree Murder in violation of Va. State Code 18.2-32

The use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in violation of Va. State Code 18.2-53.1

Two counts of discharging a firearm within an occupied dwelling in violation of Va. State Code 18.2-279

Possess a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance in violation of Va. State Code 18.2-308.4(B)

Possess a controlled substance in violation of Va. State Code 18.2-250(A)

Possess a firearm after being previously convicted of a felony in violation of Va. State Code 18.2-308.2

Breaking and Entering while possessing a dangerous weapon in violation of Va. State Code 18.2-90

Moore was arrested on the indictments today. He is currently housed at the Danville City Jail under no bond.
