Danville police investigate two armed robberies in one night

DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) Danville police are searching for answers after responding to two armed robberies Monday night.

The first happened around 9:15 p.m. on the 1400 block of Piney Forest Road. A clerk told police that a man entered the store, pointed a gun and demanded money. After the clerk gave him some money, the man ran away.

Then, around 10:20 p.m., police responded to an armed robbery on the 3300 block of Riverside Drive. Again, a man entered that store, pointing a gun and demanding money. After the victim gave him money and his personal cell phone, the robber ran away.

Police recovered the cell phone near Westover and Piedmont Drive.

No one was hurt in either instance.

Police do not know if these two crimes are related.
