ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY (WDBJ7) It’s not too early to start thinking about the start of school in the fall, especially if a child is going for the very first time.

At Hull’s Drive-In Thursday, The United Way of Rockbridge and Lexington City Schools are teaming up for "A Day in K" event to help make the transition into kindergarten a bit easier for not only parents, but students, as well.

“The whole thing is just community support of school," Lexington CIty Schools Superintendent Scott Jefferies said. "No matter what the school system is, we all care about our kids. And so if we can all do something together to prepare our students the best we possibly can for kindergarten, then we should all do it.”

The gates open at 6:30 p.m. and “The Peanuts Movie” will be shown at 8 p.m.
