UPDATE: Police identify man who died in crash on Route 11

UPDATE:

Virginia State Police has identified the driver who died in a crash on Route 11 Thursday.

Douglas Moore, 48, of Lexington, was ejected from the vehicle and died on the scene. He was the only one in the car.

The crash occurred on Route 11, less than a mile north of Route 130. Moore was driving his 1997 Buick was south on Route 11 when he ran off the right side of the road. The car hit a telephone pole, hit a tree, overturned and then caught fire.

The cause of the crash is being investigated.

State police are on the scene of a deadly accident in near Natural Bridge on Thursday morning.

It happened on Route 11 about three-tenths of a mile north of Natural Bridge, close to Route 130.

State police say the driver ran off the road, and the car caught on fire.

One person was killed. There were no other cars involved, and that driver did not have any passengers.

State police have not yet released the name of the person who was killed.

Route 11 re-opened at 1:37 p.m.
