LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) -- The Main Street Bridge replacement project is in full swing!

The bridge is now closed off to vehicle and pedestrian traffic to begin the demolition process.

In the meantime, there are several detours in place to get downtown, including Grace Street, Kemper Street, the Florida connection and 210 Madison Heights.

The project will cost about 6.7 million dollars and contractors say it should be finished in a year.
