ROANOKE, Va (WDBJ7) - Djuna Osborne will run for Roanoke City Council.

Osborne announced the news Tuesday at the Raleigh Court Public Library in front of a group of about two dozen supporters.

Obsborne says she wants to continue to make sure the schools are safe and well funded.

She also wants to make sure there are plenty of jobs in the city and tackle the opioid epidemic.

"Roanoke is a 7 time All American City and I want to keep it that way. We need to continue to work together as a community because after all, we are one Roanoke," said Osborne.

The election for Roanoke City Council is May 1, 2018.
