DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) Danville citizens had the chance to wrap up domestic violence awareness month with a special conference Tuesday.

The Center for Housing Education held the session.

Those in attendance learned about domestic violence in communities, and the laws protecting the rights of victims.

The event, "Ending the Silence and Healing the Home," gave tips about how to keep your identity and the signs of domestic violence.

"If you know that domestic violence is taking place in someone's home, speak out. It is time," says Fair Housing Training Specialist, Mahalia Dryden-Mason.
