Dominion Energy darkens towers in Rockbridge

ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY (WDBJ7) Some electrical tower structures in Rockbridge have gotten a new coat of paint. Or rather, a new chemical to darken them. Dominion Power added the chemical, called Natina, as part of an experiment to darken the normally shiny structures as part of a legal settlement with local residents.

“So we applied this chemical called Natina to two of these structures and we observed it for about six months," explains Rayhan Daudanu of Dominion Energy."Now what we want to find out is: how did this impact the structure of the steel, how did the color change over time, and really do all of these benefits justify the additional costs.”

Dominion says they’re always trying to minimize impact to the community while improving the infrastructure and keeping customers’ bills down.
