Trick or treating at downtown businesses has become an annual tradition in downtown Lexington, but this year for the first time police are going to be closing Main Street and a couple of side streets to traffic. It is something they decided to do to ensure safety.
Interim Police Chief Capt. Mark Riley explains: “There are some longway streets that you can go, but Main Street will be blocked. It’ll be pretty much the main part of the blockage is the Main Street area. There’ll be some other streets blocked, but you should be able to get around downtown and get through. We’ve kind of arranged it where traffic can get through pretty easily.”
The downtown trick or treating will be from 3:30 to 5 p.m., Monday.
