Dublin couple shares heartwarming story of finding love after loss

DUBLIN, Va. (WDBJ7) Bill and Pat Ray love to share a good laugh together. Just spend a few minutes with both of them in a room together and you’ll see that they’re so into each other.

“The good Lord led us together,” said Pat.

Up until about 5 years ago, Bill and Pat were single. Both of their spouses had passed on. Bill had been married for 48 years and Pat, 37.
They met one day in a Walmart parking lot.

“She says, 'What's your name?'” said Bill.
“I said, 'Is your name Bill?' He said, 'Bill Ray,'” explained Pat.

Months went by and they didn't see or speak to each other, then one day Pat spotted Bill. This time in a Kroger parking lot.

“He was trying to put his buggy up and I asked him if I could help him,” said Pat.

After that, the story is pretty simple. Bill got Pat's number from a mutual friend and he called her up and invited her to church.

“So I did, and we've been going to church ever since,” Pat said.

After two months of dating they got married. It's just one of those things, when you know, you know.

“I told my kids just joking, I'll probably live to be 100 now. I couldn't love anybody else,” said Bill.
“I'll beat him up,” said Pat jokingly.

And the laughs just keep on coming.
