MONETA, Va. (WDBJ7) Spring break may be winding down, but summer is just around the corner. And at Bridgewater Marina, they’re ready for fun in the sun.
People were out and about on Thursday, some taking a little joyride on the lake, soaking up the sun and other kids were sitting dockside.
It looks like a picture-perfect summer day, but it’s only springtime. And Ryan Waters with Bridgewater Marina, is ready for a busy season.
“We’re really excited about it. We’ve got five locations now. We’ve got 115 2016-2017 boats at those locations, and we’ve got reservations pouring in, so we’re really excited about the summer,” Waters said.
For the past 20 years they’ve had boat rentals in three locations, and this season, they added two new locations at Mariner’s Landing and Halesford Harbor.
“It’ll make it more convenient for them, especially adding the location over at mariner’s landing. Most of the short term rentals are over on (that) side of the lake, so having a location there at Mariner’s will save people 30 minutes from having to drive down here to pick up their boat,” Waters said.
And in addition to the expansion, they started selling their fleet after each season, and buying brand new boats for people to enjoy.
“Most folks come down for the weekend, they could own their own boat if they wanted to but they just don’t need a boat for more than a week usually. So we provide them with a really great boat for the week, and we sell the boat in the fall, and they come back again and get a new boat next year,” Waters said.
But before you get on the water, if you don’t have a Virginia boaters license, there’s a quick boater safety video and dockside checkout.
Then you’ll be smooth sailing, or floating.
