BEDFORD, Va. (WDBJ7) Owners of a Bedford landmark are celebrating a big anniversary by revealing plans for an expansion.
English Meadows held a rededication Thursday afternoon to mark the 100th year of its Elks Home Campus.
Leaders of the company also shared details about a $120 million investment they plan to make over the next decade.
English Meadows wants develop land around the existing Elks Home. Their vision includes cottages and homes for seniors who want to live independently.
They would also like to add a community center and skilled nursing buildings.
"We're staring immediately," said Mike Williams, co-owner of English Meadows. "I don't want to overestimate what we're going to do in the next year or two, but in the next three to five years I think we are going to have some great things here on the 150 acres that we have to work with."
English Meadows bought the Bedford campus from the national Elks organization in 2013.
