Fall Farm Day in Lexington is set to attract crowds

LEXINGTON, Va. (WDBJ) This Saturday is Fall Farm Day just outside Lexington.

The idea is to celebrate agriculture and show kids how farms work and where our food comes from, while also letting them have some fun outdoors. There are antique tractors, a swinging bridge, corn bins, hay bale obstacle courses, a teepee, a sorghum maze, animal displays and even a pig drive.

“I think that there’s a tendency for us that live in rural areas to assume that our kids are raised in the country and all our kids get to play outside and play on farms, and that’s just not the case,” Agricultural Extension Agent Tom Stanley said.

Admission is free. Fall Farm Day is on the Holland family farm on Route 60 just off 81 outside Lexington. It starts at 9 a.m. Saturday.
