Fire at Boxley Materials Lynchburg Asphalt destroys three work trucks

CAMPBELL Co., Va. (WDBJ7) -- According to Jeff Perkins, COO of Boxley Materials, a truck fire at Boxley's Lynchburg Asphalt plant destroyed three of the company's work trucks Wednesday.

The Campbell County Communications Center received a 911 call just after 5:15 p.m. reporting a dump truck on fire at the Boxley Asphalt Division on Lawyers Rd.

While first responders were en route, Campbell County Fire Marshal Randall Johnson says two more dump trucks caught fire.

Johnson says the trucks were parked side-by-side and were unoccupied. He says the fires were quickly contained. and no injured were reported.

Perkins says the three trucks were destroyed and two other trucks sustained minor damage.

Units from Lyn-Dan Heights and Campbell County Public Safety responded.

The company is not commenting on the cause of the fire or the expected damage costs, but they say they do not suspect foul play.

The fire remains under investigation by the Campbell County Fire Marshal.
