Fire investigators respond to brush fire in southeast Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) Roanoke fire investigators were on the scene of a brush fire Monday night in southeast Roanoke.

The fire happened in the 1200 block of Montrose Avenue. That's the same block where a different house has been set on fire multiple times. Fire investigators are trying to figure out if Monday night's fire is connected to previous incidents. They can't say for sure that it's suspicious, just that it's under investigation.

The brush fire was reported just after 9:15 p.m. and multiple crews responded. It happened in a small backyard and firefighters were able to put it out pretty quickly.

Police and fire investigators talked with witnesses and searched the block. This is just across the street from a empty house that has caught fire a number of times. They also spent a good amount of time in the backyard of that house.

The Battalion Chief on scene told me they're investigating two fires. The brush fire for and a possible fire in the backyard of that problem house.

WDBJ7 is working to learn more information.
