Five rescues conducted following flash flooding in Roanoke County

ROANOKE COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ7) -- Roanoke County rescue officials say multiple rescues of stranded motorists were made following a flash flooding event in the county Wednesday morning.

Officials say calls began to come in just after midnight about flash flooding as well as calls about vehicles being stuck in flooded roadways.

A total of five rescues of stranded motorist were made by Roanoke County Fire and Rescue and Roanoke County Police. No one was injured during this flooding event, officials say.

The flooding was said to be predominantly in the south county area off of and on Electric Road.
