Former Martinsville Commonwealth Attorney Clay Gravely has died

MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) The City of Martinsville announced former Commonwealth Attorney Clay Gravely died Thursday night.

In the citiy's press release, it said, "Mr. Gravely was a devoted servant of justice, and during his term in office achieved, in close cooperation with our law enforcement and the community as a whole, the lowest recorded crime rate in the history of Martinsville."

His death comes a little over a week after resigning due to health issues.

Gravely leaves behind a wife and son.
