The VHSL baseball semis are all set for Friday at Radford, Salem, and Lynchburg.
Fort Chiswell will be taking on Windsor at Radford University for the right to play in the 1A state title game. The Pioneers have put together a solid overall season, boasting a 19-4 record.
With a senior-laden team, and now just two wins away from a championship. Head Coach Derrick Jackson says this year has been a fun ride.
"This is a very fun group to coach. You know, 'Yes sir, no sir' guys," Jackson said. "They do what I ask, and that's all I can ask of them as a coach. They're just fun to be around, and it's been a fun run. I mean, I dream about it, and I talk to these guys about dreaming about it. You have to think about it because it's a reality. "
In 2A, Grayson County is back in the state semis. The Blue Devils won a state championship in the late 90's, and then finished as the back-to-back state runners-up in 2006 and 2007.
Grayson is coming off of a tight 10-to-9 loss in the regional final to Virginia High, and even though they still advanced to the state semis, they are using that loss as motivation heading into Friday.
