MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) A four-hour standoff ended peacefully in Martinsville.

Around 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Henry County deputies attempted to serve warrants on 47-year-old Darrell Anthony Scales at his home on Perkins Drive.

According to the sheriff's office, Scales refused to come to the door. After his refusal to answer the door and upon receiving information that he was possibly armed, deputies obtained a search warrant.

Deputies attempted to establish contact with Scales for approximately four hours. Eventually Scales called 911 and asked to speak with deputies. During the phone call he agreed to come out of his home and surrender. Scales came out of his home and was taken into custody without incident.

Scales was arrested on two outstanding warrants for revocation of suspended sentence (felony probation violation) and contempt of court (misdemeanor). He is currently being held in the Henry County Jail without bond.
