Frank Beamer tells Radford graduates to dream big

RADFORD, Va. (WDBJ7) Former Virginia Tech Head Football Coach Frank Beamer was on hand for Radford University's commencement on Saturday.

He not only addressed the students, but also picked up an honorary degree himself. Radford President Brian Hemphill gave Beamer an honorary doctorate of public service.

Beamer spoke about overcoming adversity and the importance of dreaming big.

"Don't take for granted the the love this life gives you, when you get where you are going don't forget to turn back around help the next one in line, laugh, think, cry. But more than anything always stay humble and kind. God bless you congratulations to you," Beamer said.

Beamer now has two degrees from the university, his first was a master's degree in guidance in counseling back in 1972.
