Franklin County man cited after bringing loaded gun to Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) A Franklin County man attempted to bring a loaded .380 caliber handgun onto a plane at Roanoke-Blacksburg Regional Airport Sunday.

The man was stopped as he was entering the checkpoint with the handgun, which was loaded with six bullets. A TSA officer detected the gun in his carry-on bag as as it passed through the conveyor belt of the X-ray machine.

Police confiscated the gun and cited the man on a state weapons charge.

The identity of the man has not been released.
