Free flu shots available at Danville Community Market Saturday

DANVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) The flu has been spreading around our entire region this year, but it's not too late to get your flu shot.

The Danville Health Department is actually giving them out for free on Saturday, February 10.

Doctors at the health department say even if you've gotten the flu this year, you should still get the shot because it can protect you from other strains of the virus.

"If you have one of the strains and you get the flu, you probably won't get that one again this year, but there are other strains that you can get and the vaccine covers those," says Danville Health Department Director, Dr. Scott Spillman.

The health department will have a table at the Community Market from 8:00 to 1:00.

The clinic is a walk-in, but officials say they will provide the vaccine at your vehicle if needed.
