BEDFORD CO., Va. (WDBJ7) Friends of the man found unresponsive of Route 122 in Bedford County Thursday talked to WDBJ7.

Robert Miller, 23, is currently at Roanoke Memorial Hospital after a state trooper found him face down along Route 122 near Bowyers Loop. One friend says Miller is on life support.

Friends say he has burns all over his body that are consistent with a lightning strike.

Kelly Ayers says Miller is like a son to her and is praying for him to pull through.

"Even if he was down in the dumps, he would come across like he was just fine," Ayers said. "That's probably what he is thinking now."

Ayers saw Miller Wednesday, just 24 hours before he was found. She said she would never forget the last thing he said to her.

"He said, 'you be careful out there,' and he just kept looking up," Ayers said. "I said, 'I will, you too.'"

Ayers hopes that wasn't the last time she will speak to Miller.

Virginia State Police originally thought Miller was hit by a car. They're ruled that out and say he was not the victim of a criminal act.
