CARROLL COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ7) A man from Giles County has been arrested after an altercation with his girlfriend Tuesday night around 9:30.
Carroll County deputies say they received a report of a man and woman fighting outside their home in the 4000 block of Coulson Church Road.
Deputies found a girl who reported that she and her boyfriend, Devan Ramey, were driving on Coulson Church Road when they got into an argument.
The girl, who's identity and age has not been reported, said Ramey knocked the car out of gear and then she got the car to stop at Coulson Church. The argument continued and she told Ramey she was not going with him because she was afraid of him. She then advised that her boyfriend drug her out of her car and attempted to put her into the back seat. She said she was able to escape, but Ramey caught up to her and dragged her back to the car.
She said at this point, a truck stopped and Ramey engaged with the person in the truck and that she was able to get away to a nearby home. Ramey tried to get into the home, but was not successful and ran back to his car and left.
As sheriff's were searching for Ramey, he called 911 requesting to talk with deputies and demanded to know if his girlfriend was going to press charges on him. Deputies on the phone with Ramey tried to get him to say where he was. Virginia State Police troopers ended up finding him on Interstate 77 at exit 24.
Ramey, 29, of Pembroke, was charged with domestic assault, attempted abduction and the unauthorized use of the girl's car.
Ramey was taken before the magistrate where the warrants were obtained as well as a protective order against him. He was held without bond and was taken to the New River Valley Regional Jail. He later requested a phone call, which was granted. He called his girlfriend, which violated the protective order that had just been served. Ramey was then served with an additional charge of violating the protective order at the regional jail.
