Gleaning for the World is still collecting supplies for Texas and Florida but in the next couple of months, they will go back to focusing on local needs.

After 20 years, the organization says it’s time to center its attention on helping local people.

"There should never be a child or an elderly person in Central Virginia that does not have adequate food and clothing; that does not have the adequate supplies and the medical care that they need," said Rev. Ron Davidson, the President of Gleaning for the World.

The organization says about 90 percent of their product goes to national and international causes and they want to instead pour those life-saving items into the Central Virginia region.
