UPDATE: Police identify driver in deadly hit-and-run accident in Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ7) The Roanoke Police Department has identified the driver who hit and killed a moped driver Wednesday night on Hershberger Road.

Officers have spoken to the woman.

They are still collecting and analyzing evidence.

No charges have been filed at this time.

Earlier Thursday, police identified Joshua Combs as the man who died. He was 34 and lived in Roanoke.

Roanoke Police have identified the man who died in a hit-and-run on Hershberger Road in Roanoke as Joshua Combs, 34, of Roanoke.

Police are searching for a white four-door sedan in connection to the hit-and-run. Investigators are working to get more information.

Roanoke Police are searching for a white Dodge Stratus involved in a fatal hit-and-run on Hershberger Road in Roanoke.

A witness says the driver was an older white female.

The victim was an adult male.

The crash happened at 9:01 p.m. Wednesday night.

The 2300 block of Hershberger Road (eastbound) will be closed for several hours while police investigate. This portion of the road is near the Valley View exit.

Roanoke Police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run on Hershberger Road in Roanoke Wednesday night.

The victim was on a moped. Rescue units were dispatched and are still on scene.

The hit-and-run took place in the 2300 block of Hershberger Road. The eastbound side is closed to traffic.

Police are investigating.

An accident has closed Hershberger Road near 581, according to Roanoke Police.

The road is blocked with emergency personnel.
