LEXINGTON, Va. (WDBJ7) As part of the National Day of Prayer, there was a special service in Lexington.
Many came together for a Hope Towards Healing Prayer Vigil in the Randolph Street United Methodist Church.
The multi-denominational service included prayers for healing for people who have experienced domestic violence, as well as more general calls for peace and understanding.
"We do believe that prayer is an essential spiritual discipline," Randolph UMC Pastor Reginald Early said. "And we do believe that prayer changes circumstances and people."
The vigil was held in partnership with Project Horizon, a shelter for those seeking help from domestic and sexual assault.
