HorseMania brings horse sculpture to Lexington gallery

LEXINGTON, Va. (WDBJ7) In Lexington, there was an odd sight on the sidewalk the other day.

A life-size horse, painted with the images of dozens of other animals, being squeezed through the front door of a local art gallery. It’s all part of Horsemania, a fundraising program to support CASA child services using the work of local artists.

“My spiritual path is that we are all connected," says artist Marsha Heatwole. "So by putting lots of different animal images onto another animal, I think, illustrates that idea that we are all one."

More horses will be displayed as they are finished through the spring, then paraded through town in May. In November, the artworks will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
