SALEM, Va. (WDBJ7) The Salem Sox are back at it Thursday night against Wilmington but Wednesday night starting pitcher Michael Kopech brought some serious heat.

On July 13, 2007, Michael Kopech made his debut with the Salem Red Sox.

Kopech routinely hit 100 miles an hour and at least once clocked in at 105 miles an hour on two different radar guns Wednesday night at the park.

He allowed just four hits and one walk in five shutout innings, while striking out eight.

It was the high-A ball debut for Kopech, who missed the first half of the season because he broke his hand in a fight with a teammate during spring training.

He has now thrown nine scoreless innings with 14 strikeouts.
