MARTINSVILLE, Va. (WDBJ7) Martinsville City Schools has a new superintendent.

In a special school board meeting, the board decided to offer current interim superintendent Dr. Zebedee Talley Jr. a permanent position. He has been the interim superintendent since July.

“I am really excited about leading the Martinsville City Schools family,” Talley said in a statement. “I greatly appreciate the cooperation of the families, teachers, school board, city council, and the community with helping us to turn things around. I am looking forward to the challenge.”

School leaders are working on finalizing a 2-year contract with Talley. He'll be sworn in as superintendent in a school board meeting Monday night.
