'Killing for Love' documentary premieres across the nation

LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ7) A 1985 murder that happened in Boonsboro is back in the spotlight. Friday night a documentary about the Haysom murders, called "Killing for Love," was shown across the nation.

The screenings come as a group works to get Jens Soering out of prison, after his conviction in the murders.

Liberty University showed the film. A professor there was part of a team that reviewed evidence this summer.

“What we see is Jens Soering blood or DNA is not at the crime scene. In fact, there is no way he could genetically contribute any of his DNA to what we see at the crime scene,” said Dr. J Thomas McClintock, Director of Liberty University’s Forensic Science program.

The team has requested a pardon for Soering, but Governor McAuliffe says he does not plan to take action before he leaves office next month.
