Knoxville Police Department officers post response to Gainesville officers' selfie

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - It all started with a selfie—a picture taken of three Florida police officers had fans on social media inquiring about officers' with the Gainesville Police Department marital statuses. Some users even went so far to ask if the officers would arrest them.

On Wednesday, officers with the Knoxville Police Department took to Facebook to post a response.

"There's no denying the Gainesville Police Department has set the internet on fire with a picture of three of their officers as they are going on patrol," the post reads. "Thousands upon thousands of women have oh - let's just say - provided their 'opinion' on the officers' appearance."

Now, KPD said they're offering a chance for the officers' fans to make a difference. The office said they would like to challenge the Gainesville Police Department and all those who "are inclined to leave a 'comment'" to make a small donation in the name of either the Gainesville Police Department or Knoxville Police Department to their favorite charity to help Hurricane Irma victims in Florida.

"We're confident the Volunteers of Tennessee will see that our KPD officers take it to those gators once again!" the post concluded.

After less than an hour online, the KPD post had nearly 500 shares, and 400 comments.
